A country kitchen design is incomplete without wood. Cabinets, shelves, coffee tables, chairs, and flooring are usually made of wood. Whether distressed or not, wood must be natural-looking. Plant holders, fruit baskets, cabinet knobs and drawer pulls are usually made of wrought iron to give a rugged, rustic feel. Counter tops are usually made of marble or ceramic tiles, although some would still use granite counter tops. Whatever the material is, the color must blend well with the color scheme of the entire kitchen. Interesting decorative tiles may also be used in some areas. To give warmth, walls are usually painted with earth colors. Some prefer lighter shades like yellow and cream. Visualize the colors of a sunset. These are the colors that the walls usually have. Mix these old pieces with new ones that you may find in flea markets.
